So you’ve created a vintage metal stamping, and now you have – a drab metal stamping. By using GILDERS® paste wax, you can transform a metal stamp into a beautifully finished piece of jewelry.

1.    Smooth Surface – If the metal stamping is too smooth, the GILDERS® paste wax will not stick properly. Use steel wool or sandpaper to add great metal texturing (mechanical tooth).

2.    Create your color! With 28 colors of GILDERS® paste wax, the possibilities are limitless. Some artist favorites include African Bronze, Patina, and German Silver. Create your custom hue by blending different pastes together.

3.    Rejuvenate – Use a small amount of turpentine or paint thinner to create the desired paste consistency.

4.    Apply the Gilders Paste to your metal jewelry using your fingers, a paintbrush, or a paper towel.

5.    Layer Colors – While wet, blend or layer the paste to create interesting color variations and highlights.

6.    Cure Time – Allow the GILDERS® paste wax to cure for 12 hours. Dries to the touch in about 10 – 15 minutes.

7.    Burnishing – Using a paper towel and small circular hand motions, lightly buff the cured surface to create a beautiful gilded finish with an elegant sheen.

8.    Seal the GILDERS® paste wax by spraying on a clear varnish, acrylic sealer (Rust O’leum, Krylon), or a lacquer such as Permalac. You could also brush or wipe on renaissance wax and other sealers or clear coats by lightly applying without exerting excessive motion or pressure. While brushing or wiping on, the active sealer ingredients can move the colored wax around with constant motion. So the least amount of movement will give the best results while using a brushing or wiping application.

All it takes to make those fine artistic details stand out is a little GILDERS® paste wax. Shine on!
